What personal data we collect and why we collect it:
Media: All media on this site are uploaded by the site owner. Published recordings contain ambient sound only, never conversations.
Cookies: If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Logging in to the website is only possible with a login name and password provided by the site owner; visitors cannot register. Client access to the LUW Dashboard uses a login name and a time-limited access code provided by LUW, with a session cookie that keeps the session open for 24 hours. Complianz | The Privacy Suite for WordPress:
This website uses the Privacy Suite for WordPress by Complianz to collect and record Browser and Device-based Consent. For this functionality, your IP address is anonymized and stored in our database. This service does not process any personally identifiable information and does not share any data with the service provider. For more information, see the Complianz Privacy Statement.

The security plugins used on this site do not process personal identifiable information.
LUW conducts participatory listening studies on urban sites, with two instruments:
LUW Score Board: participants register how they experience the sonic qualities of a place at listening points, during guided listening walks.
LUW Dashboard: publishes aggregated results per project, compares design scenarios, and provides clients with secured access to project material.
Participation is voluntary. We collect: Listening scores: anonymous assessments of sonic experience, per listening point. Ambient sound: audio recordings of the sound environment. Audio contains ambient sound only, never conversations. Listening point locations: geographic positions where listening takes place. Project administration: for clients, a name and a time-limited access code. Clients can view and download published project material; they cannot upload data themselves.
How we handle it: Submissions are anonymous. They are not linked to names, accounts, or contact details. Published results are aggregated. Published recordings are marked as public. Client access codes are shown once, stored hashed, and expire. Client access is logged. Exports contain no personal data.
Retention: Raw submissions are kept for a maximum of 10 years for research reproducibility, then removed.
Who we share your data with: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
For the LUW listening studies: No personal data is shared with third parties, and exports contain no personal data.
Embedded content from other websites : Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, sound tracks, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with that embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. How long we retain your data: The site is managed through user accounts for site administration only; visitors and clients cannot register. Website administrators can see, edit, or delete account information at any time.

What rights you have over your data:
If you have client access to a LUW project, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Because LUW submissions are anonymous, we may not be able to identify your individual submission; in that case we will remove the data you can identify. Contact us for these requests.
